Vyceniae’s mother, Elizabeth Yalland, spent almost her entire life in Bristol but she was born in Devon as were all of her ancestors known to me. Originally from South Brent, the Yalland family began to settle in and around Loddiswell at the end of the 18th century. Elizabeth’s father, George, was a carpenter in Plymouth where he met and married Eliza Carter, the daughter of Robert Carter and Ann Hugill. Immediately after the birth of their first child, George and Eliza relocated to Bristol arriving there in about 1849.
The ancestry report uses 'Ahnentafel' numbering. This means that the numbers for a person's parents will be twice as large as that person's number. For example, if a woman's number is 15, her father will be number 30, and her mother will be 31. Her child will be number 7.
